The Bosnian Serb Massacre of Approximately 8,372 Bosniak Men and Boys at Srebrenica in July 1995
The Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska under General Ratko Mladic overran the UN-declared "safe area" of Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia on 11 July 1995. Across the following two weeks Bosnian Serb forces systematically killed approximately 8,372 Bosniak Muslim men and boys. The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia ruled the massacre to be genocide.
