The Rochester Optical Scientist Who Read the Erased Pages of the Archimedes Palimpsest
Roger L. Easton Jr. of the Rochester Institute of Technology led the multispectral imaging programme that recovered text from the Archimedes Palimpsest between 1999 and 2008. The technique combines ultraviolet, visible, and infrared photography with substantial computational analysis to detect ink residues invisible to the unaided eye.
