The Emu War of November 1932, in Which the Australian Army Deployed Machine Guns Against Flightless Birds and Lost In November 1932 the Australian military sent Major G.P.W. Meredith with two Lewis machine guns and 10,000 rounds to cull some 20,000 emus destroying wheat crops in Western Australia. After a month, the emus were winning and the operation was withdrawn.
