What makes the Haitian Revolution of 1791-1804 unique in world history?

From the facts
The Haitian Revolution

The Haitian Revolution (1791-1804) was the only slave revolt in history to destroy slavery and found an independent state. Enslaved people in French Saint-Domingue — the richest colony on Earth — defeated in turn the local regime, Spanish and British interventions, and Napoleon's expedition, declaring the Republic of Haiti on 1 January 1804. France later extorted a crushing indemnity for its lost 'property'.
