The Ming Dynasty The Ming dynasty (1368-1644) restored native Chinese rule after the Mongols, built the Forbidden City and most of today's Great Wall, and sent Zheng He's treasure fleets across the Indian Ocean before turning inward. It fell in 1644 to rebellion and the Manchu conquest that founded the Qing.
